Countless wandering days
In a wagon train parade,
With a prairie serenade.
We did try to take that mountain,
But the mountain had its way.

Back at the fort,
With exhausted winter stores,
And some friends beneath the floor.
We won't live to see that spring,
Or what we came out here for.
